Can I have more IPs? (Updated 05-01-2026)
At present, our primary network implementation depends on the dedicated server, and also depends on the primary type of network addresses present. As of 05-01-2026, two primary network stacks exist concurrently on our VirtFusion implementations: Libvirt NAT (for NAT IPv4, and IPv6 /64 or /80 IPs), and MacVTap (for full public IPv4 and full public IPv6 IPs).
MacVTap (bridged) is the recommended approach by VirtFusion and is always implemented by C-Servers whenever possible and feasible, in situations where full IPs are expected for a given Package, Add-on, or global dedicated server. If you have a full IP on your VPS, you're using MacVTap.
Libvirt NAT (routed) is a networking approach primarily executed on situations where networking addresses or market-scaling justify implementing such a platform, and it's used especially when full IPv4 or full IPv6 IP subnets are not reasonably feasible.
As you may have realized by now, the approaches are so different that they don't mix together.
As such, our IP policies are substantially different for VirtFusion-based VPSes in comparison with SolusVM-based VPSes, which, since they used the same platform and were entirely routed with us by design (through a virtual platform, OpenVSwitch), made some extra things available - but worsened the experience for who has a full IP, and can benefit from having them direct, by forcing things to be indirect.
What are the IP attribution policies for your Packages?
Usually, the type of IPs you're getting by default are a nice indicator of what we can or cannot do for your VPS server, at your node.
The types of VPS packages and IP attribution policies for these vary significantly, as follows:
VPS Package with Default IPv4 NAT + IPv6 /80 » it is not technically possible to have more than one NAT IPv4 IP and one IPv6 IP on your VPS, due to address constraints and networking interface specifics.
If and when possible, you'll always have to update the Plan to an entirely dual-stack Full IPv4 + Full IPv6 plan - and it may demand a reinstall of your VPS service as well, as the underlying networking specifics will change (from Libvirt to MacVTap).
It may be possible to convert to a full IPv4 (via MacVTap) and keeping the package - but you'll lose IPv6 connectivity.
This is the core scenario for upstreams that primarily work IPv4-only, with IPv6 provided only with /64 for the full server.
VPS Package with Default IPv4 NAT + IPv6 /64 » The same policy applies as the previous package type.
It may be possible to convert to a full IPv4 (via MacVTap) and keeping the package - but you'll lose IPv6 connectivity.
This is the core scenario when Hetzner or OVH are the upstream and all IPs are provided by them, for example.
VPS Package with Default IPv4 NAT, and without any IPv6 » We explicitly avoid, at all times, providing a service without IPv6 by default. However, it could punctually occur, strictly limited to upstream networks that don't even provide an IPv6 (or provide it without adequate peerings), but where we still see some commercial reasonability on providing service like this. It will be rare - C-Servers is an IPv6-first company.
On these situations, obviously if the upstream allows us to have a full IPv4 - and could tend to allow it - we will provide a full IPv4 via MacVTap, no questions asked, and pricing will tend to be cheaper for the add-on.
This is a last-resort core scenario.
VPS Package with Full IPv4 + Full IPv6 » both are always possible to provide extra. IPv6s are provided without extra cost (a justification is required), IPv4s will have an additional cost.
C-Servers does not provide the following four networking package types on our offerings:
» VPS Package with no IPv4 and Full IPv6
» VPS Package with no IPv4 and /80-/128 IPv6
» VPS Package with full IPv4 and /80-/128 IPv6
» VPS Package with NAT IPv4 and /96-/128 IPv6.
