What type of 2D/3D Acceleration exists on VintageVPS?

In order to ensure relevant 2D/3D acceleration, we've done the extra mile, went ahead, and included SoftGPU (an open-source solution) directly on our VintageVPS solution, for Windows 9x systems.

This is a solution based on multiple libraries (WineD3D, Mesa3D for Windows, OpenGlide, among others), that is implemented on our VPS through the llvmpipe renderer (256 bits). While our main CPU speed on these VPSes is slower than usual (although adequate for the era), virtual GPU acceleration is not affected, as the required speed and instructions are at least from a Pentium II, and we do have SSE and AVX acceleration, essential to obtain more frames per second. Since the games of the time mostly didn't also demand 30/60 fps to be playable and this is a remote solution, we found this option acceptable for the type of usage.

2D rendering is based on the virtual VESA 2.0 graphics driver available at the underlying QEMU software solution, which does the job. By default, our VPS run in 24-bit High Colour at 800x600.

Bear in mind: this is still an alpha solution. Several games may not or will not work at all, loading times can be higher than expected, and C-Servers gives no operational guarantees on which games are playable or not. Since this offer is non-refundable, if you have doubts, we advise you to choose the specially-created 14-day package, and test for yourself.
